Thirty years of studying what happens when people communicate.
Speaker, communication strategist and founder of The Human Voice Studio.
Kirsten de Bouter Shillam is a speaker, communication strategist and founder of The Human Voice Studio. For more than 30 years, she has worked with individuals, teams and organisations across Europe, helping people communicate with greater clarity, confidence and impact.
Her route into communication has never been particularly conventional. She trained in theatre and performance before moving into business, psychology and coaching, a combination that has shaped the way she works ever since. She understands communication from both sides: what happens inside us, and what other people see, hear and experience.
Over the years, Kirsten has coached leaders, teams, entrepreneurs, young people and speakers; written and shaped speeches; developed and delivered communication programmes; and worked with organisations through moments of growth, change and challenge. She has been a TEDx speaker, organiser and speaker coach, and has spent thousands of hours watching people communicate: on stages, in meeting rooms, in classrooms and in conversations that matter.
An unconventional route

Trained in theatre and performance: learning what an audience sees, hears and feels.
Communication is not a talent reserved for the naturally confident.
It is a human capability that can be taught, practised and developed.
Through The Human Voice Studio, Kirsten brings together psychology, performance and three decades of practical experience to help people become more skilful, adaptable and intentional communicators, while remaining entirely themselves.
While remaining entirely yourself.
